I am working with professors Javier Dosque and Cesar Muller.
I am very excited to be working with both of them! Cesar teaches art and Javier
teaches science. This first week have been observing the classes and getting comfortable
with the students. All of the students have been so friendly and welcoming to
me. Despite my lack of Spanish, I’ve still been able to have some awesome conversations
with students and some students know almost perfect English. I’m hoping next
week I will be able to teach some about coral reefs, our environmental impacts,
and about climate change! So far, the classroom has been great and I look
forward to the weeks to come!
Estoy trabajando con los profesores Javier Dosque y Cesar Muller. ¡Estoy muy emocionado de
trabajar con los dos! Cesar enseña arte y Javier enseña ciencia. Esta primera semana hemos estado
observando las clases y sintiéndonos cómodos con los estudiantes. Todos los estudiantes han sido muy
amables y acogedores conmigo. A pesar de mi falta de español, todavía he podido tener algunas
conversaciones increíbles con estudiantes y algunos estudiantes saben inglés casi perfecto. ¡Espero
que la próxima semana pueda enseñar algo sobre los arrecifes de coral, nuestros impactos ambientales
y sobre el cambio climático! ¡Hasta ahora, el aula ha sido excelente y espero ansiosamente las
próximas semanas!
On Monday Fanny, Fanny, Christian, and I went to Llacolen
for Fanny’s biology homework. It was a beautiful park with amazing views! For
the biology homework, we had to collect 10 samples of tree leaves and identify them
by their taxonomic names. We walked along a nature trail where we could find
labeled trees and their taxonomic names and I got to see the flower of Chile on
the walk too!
El lunes, Fanny, Fanny, Christian y yo fuimos a Llacolen para la tarea de biología de Fanny. ¡Era un
hermoso parque con vistas increíbles! Para la tarea de biología, tuvimos que recolectar 10 muestras de
hojas de árboles e identificarlas por sus nombres taxonómicos. ¡Caminamos por un sendero natural
donde pudimos encontrar árboles etiquetados y sus nombres taxonómicos y pude ver la flor de Chile en
la caminata también!

This week is art week at the school and the theme is diversity.
On Thursday after school I helped out for art week. Parents came in to paint
with their children. Each family chose a famous painting and had to recreate it
Chilean style. I worked with Leslie and Alyssa as an LSU family to make a
Louisiana themed painting. We didn’t get to finish, but this is what we’ve done
so far and we plan on finishing the painting and giving it to the school!
Esta semana es una semana de arte en la escuela y el tema es la diversidad. El jueves
después de la escuela ayudé a la semana de arte. Los padres vinieron a pintar con sus hijos. Cada
familia eligió una pintura famosa y tuvo que recrearla al estilo chileno. Trabajé con Leslie y Alyssa
como familia de LSU para hacer una pintura temática de Luisiana. No pudimos terminar, pero esto
es lo que hemos hecho hasta ahora y planeamos terminar la pintura y dársela a la escuela.
